The Pili puppet shows are where Wuxia, or martial arts heroes gain fame. The new Pili Legend logo indicates that the Pili universe is about to break away from past image. It uses the prequel of Su Huan-Jen, a well-known hero, to create an “inspirational, easy-to-understand movie that will have non-puppet fans on the edge of their seats”.
The brand logo is used to represent the film’s sub plots, and the three keywords, “promising talent”, “brand new” and “martial arts”, represent the expansion of the Pili universe, the start of a new chapter for the brand, and to bring out the core values of Eastern martial arts. The Pili universe will be able to hold various heroic characters, depict their stories, continue to bring the audience into a new world of heroic legends, and showcase Taiwan’s traditional puppet shows and martial arts culture to the world.
The title "Pili Legend" makes up the main body of the logo, and the side of a puppet’s face is embedded into the letters to reveal the brand spirit while signaling that more stories of the heroes will be released. Simple, straightforward and easy-to-understand designs are used to communicate with the audience and attract new viewers. In terms of colour scheme, inclusive neutral colours form the base. With reference to the colour wheel, yellow was chosen as it serves as a complementary colour to the purple of the Pili parent brand, creating a sharp contrast between the two while delivering a brand new image.
The logotype used in the film poster was derived from handwritten calligraphy to tie in with the animation of Su Huan-Jen wielding his fly whisk, building greater excitement for the legend’s prequel.
Pili launched the the first film in the Pili Legend series, the prequel of Su Huan-Jen, in 2022, during the Lunar New Year, unveiling the origin of the entire martial arts universe. In the posters for the series, we captured the moment when he looks back with an expression of steady resolve in his eyes and two kirin swords in his hand as he makes his grand debut. He shares the space with many classic characters as the viewers take in the atmosphere of "Su Huan-Jen’s return".
